Just a few of the long ‘A’ list of celebrities who have stayed at the increasingly popular Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel.

The Mandarin has also picked up a host of awards for the quality of its service from Vogue and others. One has to ask where and why this new found popularity has come about. The answer will be a surprise to many. The Mandarin has become a fine example of commercial feng shui in action. The feng shui consultation for the Mandarin was in fact carried out by the legendary Master Simon Wong.

The name may not be immediately familiar to everyone but with in the feng shui world Master Wong is very much the real thing. Master Wong is originally from China, although he grew up in Hong Kong and moved to Britain in his twenties.

His knowledge of Chinese practices is unsurpassed in the West. Before training as a Taoist, Buddhist and Feng Shui master, he was already a master of both long and short tai chi form, chi kung and mantis kung fu.

The Mandarin hotel is one of Master Wong’s many high profile clients. Since using Master Wong¹s services the Mandarin has literally become a celebrity ‘magnet’. Master Wong did the feng shui for the Mandarin in 2000 on behalf of the general manager Liam Lambert. After looking around the hotel Master Wong was able to best advise on drawing in more business. The front entrance is crucial to bringing business in, and the lions are spiritually protecting the hotel. As a Buddhist master, Master Wong was also able to ‘bless’ the hotel which creates a more positive energy to attract business.

Master Wong returned to the Mandarin in early february 2003 for the Chinese new year celebrations, and undertook some fortune telling for some of the guests.
