Inviting the Money God into your home - 9th February

On Chinese New Year’s Day (1st of January on the Chinese calendar), you can perform the Chinese custom of inviting the Money God into your home in order to bring prosperity and luck into the household. The directions that you have to walk are as follows:

• The Good News (Happiness) God is in the north east
• The Money God is in the south east
• The Helping God is in the north east

To bring money, good luck, and help for the year of the Chicken you can walk towards these directions and then back to your house, between 11pm (on the 8th of February) until 5am on Wednesday 9th February 2005. You may also walk between 7am - 9am, 1pm - 3pm on February 9th.

Make sure not to do this between 5am - 7am and 11am - 3pm as these times are very inauspicious. Although the Money God is in the South East, this direction also has 5 Ghost and the Bad News God making it unsuitable to walk there.

Afterwards you should go to the nearest temple to light the first incense of the year, or if you have your own shrine you may do this at home.

Blessing Ceremony - 25th January

This is a traditional ceremony to say thankyou to the Gods and ensure good fortune for the coming year. You should set up an offering of food - buy some cakes, and cook some dishes, light incense, and wish for success.
